Today was our first monitoring visit and I'm happy to report that it was a huge stress reliever.
As Kerry and I pulled up to CCRM, we were both like OMG, here we are again! Very surreal.
They called us back for my u/s and the sonographer said "remove your clothes and I'll be right in". As soon as she shut the door, Kerry started taking his clothes off. I about lost it.
The sonographer came in and got right to it. She measured my lining and then my follies. I watched the screen intently hoping and praying that they hadn't grown too big or had a dominant follicle, especially after how achy my ovaries have felt the last couple of days. I'm feeling things going on much much sooner this time, so I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully all looked great.
Kerry snapped a shot of one of my follicles (the black circle in the center):
When I came out of the u/s room, I found Kerry wandering around telling each nurse happy mother's day. Next was b/w.
When we walked into the lab room, Kerry pointed to this sign and said to the phlebotomist "hey, we want an express pregnancy, how much will that cost us?".
I think I was a little too happy here for b/w, but I was just so excited that my u/s went so well.
I had 3 tubes of blood drawn for my hormone levels and my communicables. Afterwards I was handed a bill for $310 for my communicables, errrr! Here's Kerry, doesn't he look great with a purse?
Alrighty, here's my results:
Lining: 9.5mm (whoa, that's thick for just finishing AF!)
Right ovary (mm): 6.4, 7.6, 8.1, 8.1, 9.6, 12.2
Left ovary (mm): 6.1, 7.2, 7.5, 8.0, 8.0, 8.5
E2: 345
LH: 0.6
P4: 0.2
I'm not sure what happened to my 8mm found on my left ovary at suppression check since the largest one I have now is 8.5mm. Thankfully my worries of my follies getting ahead of schedule turned out to not be an issue.
IVF#3 results as a comparison:
Lining: 7.5mm
Right ovary (mm): 8, 9, 2 micro
Left ovary (mm): 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8
E2: 252
LH: 0.6
P4: 0.2
A nurse called me with my dosages. I'm to increase my gonal-f from 150iu a night to 300iu a night, yikes! I just went from having enough gonal-f for my entire cycle to needing to order some more tomorrow. Bummer that this is the most expensive drug. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with them raising my dosage. I feel slow and steady would be a good change for me. My E2 is already higher than last time and the way my E2 takes off like crazy, I'm not sure I really needed it increased. But, that's what the experts want, so that's what I'll do. On my next visit, I will be making sure they put it in my notes that my E2 will take off and be unstopable if they don't lower the dosage back down.
My monitoring visit for tomorrow was cancelled and I'll return Tue.
Our plans of visiting the Rockies was cancelled today due to weather, so we're hoping to go tomorrow. I'll post pics if we do.
That's all for now!
Answer for Anonymous comment: I get my cheap flight by using Southwest. I watch for their Ding specials or I just book my estimated flights while their prices are low. With Southwest, you can cancel your flights and apply the funds to a future flight. I also use name your own price on Priceline.com, especially for hotel and rental car. Hope this helps!
I'm glad your follies look so good. My suggestion: remind them about your crazy high E2! At least this time you're not doing a fresh transfer so hopefully the high E2 (if it GETS super high that is) won't be a big issue for your uterine receptivity. Right? You're not doing a fresh transfer? I get confused!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you guys look so cute. I hope you get to go to the Rockies, but stay safe (ie no dancing near the top of Pikes Peak!)
Well, I hope that the E2 indicates that there are more follies cooking in there than before but I would keep reminding them about your E2 skyrocketing. Again. And Again. They may be just increasing your dose of Gonal F for the one day and they may drop it down again so I would wait to buy more until you know for sure they're going to keep it at 300 a night. I'm "eggcited" for you!
ReplyDeleteGlad things are progressing well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Keep us "posted" :-)
ReplyDeleteHey girlie.....everything sounds great! Glad your fears have been put to rest for the most part:-0)
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo excited for you!
love ya!
Cathy
It looks like everything is going well so far. I'm glad that the lead follicle wasn't an issues. I love how your DH makes everyone laugh...and how nice of him to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day:) Have a good day off tomorrow, Jill! I hope you guys do something fun.
ReplyDeleteWow, everything looks great! Don't forget to drink lots of water. It helps with the altitude adjustment.
ReplyDeleteYou both look cute!
Great news! I am so happy your follies are cooperating! and, it looks like you will get a great number of eggs too! Are you talking about going to Estes Park? We went on our first IVF there...had a great time! It was really amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everything is going so well. Those pics sure do bring back memories. I'm sorry about the gonal increase - exact same thing happened to me and it is expensive (as you know).
ReplyDeleteHave a great time if you make it to the Rockies!
Looks like a great start!!! I had my Gonal F doses upped from 150 to 300 after the first check there too. I'd definitely tell them about your past experiences. I'm really excited for you. Looking really good!
ReplyDeleteHi.. I watched your little video.. funny!!! Glad things are going well for you. I will keep very positive thoughts.. and pray like mad that things work out well for you! I love and miss you both, Mama
ReplyDeleteGlad your day went well and of course only my crazy brother would think he was supposed to take his clothes off. LOL
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing how the next days go, so far I'm enjoying this coaster ride, hope there are some great thrills up ahead.
Love you

Hi Jill and Kerry!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like everything is going good for you...at least that was my take away from the blog letter. I like the key on the side so I can kinda figure out what you're talking about, otherwise it's like reading a foreign language! Still, to see some of the words behind the letters is still a mystery to me as to what they mean, but that's okay. The word I'm waiting to hear is pregnant (PG)! So enjoy your time in CO, take care, Kerry, keep your clothes on and Jill, you need a bigger purse if Kerry's going to hold it (it looked like a wallet with a shoulder strap on his lap)! So until we meet at the Birds and the Bees...
I love you guys, always and a day and a baby!
Love Aunt Carol xoxoxoxo
