Christmas (14w2d)

Merry Christmas everyone!

I missed posting my 14 week update, so I'll start with that.  This week I am officially in the 2nd trimester and have entered the 4th month.  Where is all the time going??

I see why they say the 2nd trimester is the best. All my energy has returned, I feel good and I'm starting to show, but not uncomfortably yet. This is definitely a fun and exciting time. Though I still have little worries here and there, I believe I'm past the joy-stealing anxiety of the 1st trimester that something was going to take this away from me.  Reality has kicked in for us that I really am pg.  It definitely helps that I'm now visually pg and can hear the HB anytime we'd like.

I bought my first maternity top the other day.  While all my tops still fit, most of them are not long enough to cover the fact that I can no longer zip/button any of my pants.  I've gotten some serious mileage out of my BellaBand and BellyBelt already!

Not looking so big from the front:

But take a quarter turn and holy cow!!!  Yeah, I'm growing fast and I just know I'm going to be huge!

Sharp cervical pinches, the kind that make you jump and say ouch!  This one is freaking me out just a tad as I fear my cervix is giving out.

Very mild heartburn starting to kick in.

Occasional mild pain in my ovary area.  I believe this is the start of round ligament pain.  I really have no idea what round ligament pain feels like, but all my pg books say that this starts this week.

Up next:

11 days till my next u/s where hopefully we'll find out if we're having a little boy or girl!  We cannot wait to find out!!!  We're anxious to start thinking of a name, picking out nursery themes/colors and finally get to buy pink or blue.  You think we're having a boy or girl?  Stop by the "Guess the Gender" poll and cast your vote.

Christmas Eve:

Today we spent Christmas with my mom and step-dad.  We enjoyed dinner, a movie and opened a few gifts.  It was a great time.  The best part was all the gifts for little Seven!  Seven received 6 little outfits and a teether.  I can't stop looking at the outfits, they're so tiny and cute. I just smile and thank God that these little outfits are for my baby.  I keep having to pinch myself that these are not shower gifts for someone else.

A few family photos:

Looking preggo yet?  Not so much, still looking more like a beer gut.

My aunt sent my folks a pair of really warm and comfy wearable blankets.  The guys put them on and we about lost it as they looked like a couple of monks.  Check them out!

Christmas Day:

Today we spent Christmas with Kerry's family.  We enjoyed lunch, exchanging gifts and playing cards.

Kerry is so proud of my "beer gut".

Christmas Evening:

This evening Kerry and I exchanged our gifts, though nothing could top the gift we already received.

I was so excited to be handed a gift bag from "Pickles & Ice Cream Maternity".  My hubby got me maternity underwear!  He's been concerned that the elastic from my regular undies are getting a little too tight on my growing belly.  So over-protective already!  He also got me 2 maternity tops from Motherhood Maternity.  Needless to say, I'm quite giddy!

Kerry got a little something from Seven.  It says "I Love Daddy".

That's all for now.  Lots of love from Tall Dude and Short Chick!

  1. Merry Christmas! Wow! I can see you're showing for sure! I really hope we get to find out what the baby is this next ultrasound. :0) Congrats on the maternity wear and the second trimester bliss! Love you!

  2. Merry Christmas Jill & Kerry! You look absolutely fabulous and you are both beaming from ear to ear. You are definitely showing now and that maternity top looks so cute on you! Those wearable blankets are so funny :). I think your pinching pains at the side are definitely round ligament pains - I had them too at around that time and thought I was getting overly paranoid as my nurse that the OB's office told me that it was too soon to get them but I had them right around when you are having them and I haven't had them since. Enjoy this part of the pregnancy - you're right, from here on out, it does get a little bit more difficult to move around. I can't wait to hear what you're having!

  3. It makes me grin from ear to ear as I read your posts now, and I'm so happy that you're in the 2nd trimester. you may even see that you had more energy that before too, but make sure to rest twice as much for the energy you exert.
Missed you yesterday, and hope to see you soon.
p.s. start stocking up on diapers now, but probably not too many of the newborn and size 1, Brady just went to a size 3 yesterday!

  4. Merry Christmas Jill! What a wonderfully joyful holiday for you both. You deserve such happiness after all you've been through. Happy New Year to you both.
-Cassie from IVFC (I just had a suppression check this morning and am good to go for this cycle - headed out to Denver next Sunday - wish me some of your good luck!)

  5. Merry Christmas! It looks like you two (three) had a beautiful holiday! Love the baby stuff...and the cute little "beer" gut!!!

  6. Cute little bump.....I can definitely tell it's bigger than the last one:-) How exciting! I LOVED showing off my bump and don't worry about how big you get or how fast you show.....every woman is different and I'd rather show early to enjoy the bump longer than some of these women that you can't even tell they are pregnant when they are 7 or 8 months along:-) You look just glowing and soooo happy and I'm happy for you.....round ligament pains HURT mostly when you roll over in bed or twist or something and they are really sharp like you pulled a muscle.....they get worse the farther along you get too. I love you little outfits....Cameron has the ducky one in both knit and fleece, and also the sleep sack to's adorable on!

    love ya!

  7. Looks like a great Christmas - and just think how much MORE fun next year's will be!
I've had the odd stab in the cervix, and some achy side-of-pelvis-down-to-crotch stuff that was probably round ligament pain. At 14-15 weeks, I think you're probably a little too much on the early side for incompetent cervix to start rearing its head. Hope you get some good reassurance at your next ultrasound that all is good, and that you get to find out what you're having. My bet's on boy for some reason. As long as it's healthy, who cares!

  8. Yay!!!! Glad everything is going well. Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas! And you look beautiful, btw! Although you always do, of course :-) But especially now with the baby glow!

  9. Oh, I forgot to add that the cervical pain, pinching, stabbing will probably be there for the rest of the pregnancy too.....completely normal.....sometimes it was so bad with both of my pregnancies that it took my breathe away!

  10. Merry Christmas to both (all three) of you! Cute pictures - looks like you had a great time!

  11. Merry belated Christmas! Good looking mini baby bump!!

  12. L-O-V-E all the pics!!! I'm totally cracking up at Kerry in the snuggie! He looks like such a proud Daddy already, pointing to and patting your baby bump.
Just a little over a week til the big u/s! Counting down with you!! I voted on your poll--we'll see if Seven is a boy name or a girl name!
I'll email you later on with some of our updates.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and a super New Year celebration!
    The Other Jill

  13. Jill,

I couldn't be happier for you. I know the joys of being a parent, and being pregnant too! You are living up every minute of it and that is so wonderful!

I can't wait to hear whether Seven is a boy or a girl! And I really want to rub the belly, too!!! We need to get together before you do get to big, and then it's uncomfortable. Email me, call me, when the holidays settle down so we can get together and visit. I miss you. But looking forward to visiting with you again. :-)

  14. ditto ashley. I am blinded by all the beaming. ;)

  15. Hi Jill....

LOL... I finally got to see your blog. I see the baby clothes. I am really happy that you liked them!!! You and Kerry do look very happy!!! And yes, Butch and Kerry do look like a couple monks...but they are so warm and comfy!!! They just made us act silly. I felt more like Elvis when I put it on!!! It was fun Christmas fast forward and make it June!
Nice to see the family pics of everyone too!!!

Love you as big as the sky.

  16. Jill, what a wonderful Christmas you, Kerry and Seven had with your families. Everyone looks so happy and you don't look anxious at all...just enjoying every moment. This blog entry was our Christmas gift.
    We love you all.
